Yeast Infection Prevention
Beyond learning what are the best treatments for yeast infections, we should also learn how to avoid them. By taking some small precautions, we can avoid altering our PH balance, which highly contributes with avoiding any type of infection.
The steps to follow are very simple, because they’re based on principles that we were taught since you were little. First, we should pay careful attention to keep the vaginal area clean, very clean, and especially dry, since humidity can make bacteria spread and cause a yeast infection. Every time you take a bath or a shower, take special care on washing the vaginal area with soft soap, lots of water and be sure to dry thoroughly afterwards.
How to prevent a yeast infection?
It’s not recommended to wash the vagina internally, since this can cause a PH alteration, irritating it, and give way to a yeast infection. Also, you should steer clear from products such as aerosols and perfumed tampons that claim to get rid of bad vaginal odor. These tampons might pose a threat because after a few hours after using them, they might irritate the vagina because of the chemicals used to produce them.
If you’re a sexually active person, make sure your partner uses a latex condom, unless you’re allergic to latex. If this is the case, you can opt for a condom made from polyurethane. Don’t forget that the purpose is to maintain a healthy and safe sexual relationship.
